Tua Tagovailoa Set to Make His Return This Week
Tua Tagovailoa is officially on track to make his return for this week's game. Coach Mike McDaniel announced during the Friday press gathering that following successful clearance from concussion protocols, Tagovailoa will be starting against the Cardinals on Sunday. McDaniel explained, 'We conducted practices involving light contact and then had him evaluated by an independent doctor, resulting in his full clearance.'
McDaniel praised Tagovailoa’s dedication, commenting, 'His focus has been exceptional, taking control of what he can manage. In doing so, he's demonstrated leadership for the team in a new light. Although he's keenly invested, he's realized that coaching isn't in his near plan—his calling is truly in playing. His eagerness equals everyone else's to see him back on the turf.'
With confidence in Tagovailoa's return, McDaniel added, 'Tagovailoa's worth to the squad is unquestionable. There's great enthusiasm for his return. Both he and the team are excited, and it's an uplifting moment for all.' He noted that multiple medical professionals assessed Tagovailoa before he resumed field activities.
McDaniel reinforced the decision behind Tagovailoa's return, stating, 'For anyone uneasy about Tua's comeback, rest assured he consulted a broad range of medical experts, all of whom supported his return to football. Their backing makes communicating the news straightforward, despite many opinions out there. Tua draws his assurance from decisions crafted with these professionals who fully endorse his next steps. Everyone feels positive about the situation.'
After a concussion during the Week 2 match against the Bills, Tagovailoa was on injured reserve. So far this season, he's achieved a 65% completion rate, throwing for 483 yards, alongside two touchdowns and three interceptions.
While Miami's full injury list is due out later this Friday, Coach McDaniel expressed optimism about Tyreek Hill playing, despite his limited status due to a foot issue as of Thursday. Safety Jevon Holland (hand) and linebacker Emmanuel Ogbah (biceps) are also expected to play against Arizona.
Looking forward to witnessing Tua Tagovailoa back in the lineup?
